BEACON
BEACON – Both highly efficient and power dense next generation electric and hybrid electric powertrains
BEACON project is about the next generation electric and hybrid non-road mobile machines. The overall goal of the project is to address the challenge of second and third generation of electric machines in the context of non-road mobility by focusing on mechanical structure, electric propulsion, and economic and technical efficiency, to mention a few.
Electrification is highly relevant subject at the moment and electric motors can greatly minimize energy waste and noise pollution not to forget the potential of huge emission reduction contributing to sustainability. Thus, companies that are able to capture this shift to third-generation electrification will enhance their market share.
More about BEACON:
- A collaboration with machine manufacturers, electric system providers, integrators, and multidisciplinary team of LUT University
- Implemented by using simulation, experimental validation and ecosystem collaboration
- Results in modelling techniques and analysis of electric subsystems for entire machines
- Creates a roadmap for progressing to fully electric solutions and design for next generation of electrification
In short:
What? – The next generation electrification concept and technology for non-road mobile machines.
Why? – A redistribution is taking place in the market where companies that can take electrification to another level will reach a significant share of the market.
How? – Technically and economically optimal implementation of electrification by using physics-based simulation, experimental validation and ecosystem collaboration.
Expected results? – Tools for collaborative electrification, human-in-the-loop development, and design for the next generation of electrification.
Funding
BEACON is funded by Business Finland.
