Project Santtu about real-time simulation, digital twins and AI, has now ended
Project SANTTU was organized together with three Finnish universities and eight companies and organizations related to mechanical engineering and heavy machine industries. SANTTU project and the research was conducted between April 2022 to March 2024.
SANTTU project was organized to simplify the control and operation of the machines through semiautonomous operator assistance systems. This was done to decrease both the cognitive stress of the operator and the mechanical stress of the machine to increase the lifetime and usability of the machine and its parts. In practice the project combined beyond state-of-art and physics-based simulation models with digital twins and AI technologies to obtain higher levels of autonomous features.
As results of SANTTU, a model-based AI assistant was created to provide collision, decrease stress as well as to improve accuracy, automation of experimental routines and human-centric HMI design. To see more of the results and detailed phases of the project, look at the publications from the project below.
