X-GEN (XGen-DigiTwin)
X-GEN – Next Generation Digital Twin Solutions (XGen-DigiTwin)
To Improve the performance of maintenance and enable new scalable industrial services, productivity, and performance of predictive maintenance in manufacturing
About and background
Heavy mobile machine industry relies greatly on sensor data and skilled personnel to identify machine parameters and enhance machine productivity. This has led to a situation where an increasing number of sensors are used for a better machine understanding while using limited skilled resources. Obviously, this approach has had several flaws, such as low productivity of machine operators.
Computer simulation of heavy mobile machines can be performed using physics-based simulations models, digital twins. To boost the tailored machine performance, XGen-DigiTwin approach allows to automate the manual configuration.
In the XGen-DigiTwin project, the digital twins can be synchronized with the actual machine which overcomes the scalability issues for predictive maintenance, reduces extensive use of sensors, provides cutting edge capabilities as well as provides machine operator assistance for high machine productivity. This is implemented by combining physics-based simulation model with the Kalman filter technology.
Objectives
The goal of the X-Gen project is to support and study the commercialization opportunities of the XGen-DigiTwin technology and identify potential routes to the markets. The target is to identify customer needs, analyze business models and define customer-oriented digitally enabled solutions based on the technology.
The product offered can be a software, an application, solutions, or digital services. Since digital twins have a variety of potential application areas and use cases, the development requires customer-oriented platform solution approach where the target is to create a stream of value rich derivate products that can integrate with the customers’ own offerings and ecosystems.
